Terms of Use

1Acceptance

By using the wattloft.com website, or by installing or using the WattLoft software, you accept these terms. If you don't agree with them, don't use the site or the software. If you use an installation run by someone else, the operator's own rules apply on top of these.

2The software and its license

WattLoft is open-source software distributed under the MIT License. You may use, copy, modify and redistribute it under that license's terms. The full license text ships with the source code and controls if anything here appears to conflict with it.

3Operating an installation

When you run WattLoft, you are hosting a service. You are responsible for:

• Security — strong passwords, keeping the machine and software updated, and deciding who can reach the installation.
• Data — what is collected and for how long. The software records vehicle location history; where the law requires it, obtain the consent of people who drive the cars you track, and honor their requests about their data.
• Backups — the database lives on your disk; nobody else can restore it for you.
• Compliance — the laws that apply to you, and the terms of every service the installation uses (section 6).

4Accounts on an installation

• Accounts are provided by the installation's operator, who may create, limit or remove them at their discretion.
• Keep your password to yourself; what happens under your session is on you.
• The operator controls the hardware. The project's Privacy Policy explains what installations store and who can see it.

5Acceptable use

Don't use WattLoft — the website, or any installation — to:

• access accounts, vehicles or data that are not yours to access;
• track a person or vehicle without a lawful basis to do so;
• probe, overload or disrupt installations you don't operate;
• violate Tesla's terms, Cloudflare's terms, or applicable law.

6Tesla and third-party services

• The software uses the Tesla Fleet API through the operator's own Tesla developer application. Tesla's developer terms, quotas, pricing and privacy notices apply; Tesla may change or bill for its API at any time, which is outside this project's control.
• Connectivity uses Cloudflare Tunnel; map data comes from OpenStreetMap-based services. Their terms apply to those parts.
• None of these companies sponsors or endorses WattLoft.

7No warranty

The software and website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind — express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. No advice or information obtained from the project creates any warranty. Data shown (range, battery health, costs) is derived and may be wrong; don't make decisions that matter on it alone.

8Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the authors and contributors of WattLoft are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages — including lost data, lost profits, vehicle damage or unauthorized access — arising from the use or inability to use the software or website, even if advised of the possibility. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the software: zero.

9This website

The pages at wattloft.com are informational, provided on a best-effort basis with no uptime commitment. The “Sign in” link leads to an independently operated installation (sections 3–4), not to a service run by the project.

10Trademarks

WattLoft is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Tesla, Inc. “Tesla”, “Model S” and related marks are trademarks of Tesla, Inc., used here only to describe compatibility. “Cloudflare” is a trademark of Cloudflare, Inc.

11Changes

These terms may be revised; the current version always lives at this address with its date above. Material changes will be noted prominently. Using the site or software after a change means the current version applies.
